Can I just start by saying how much I MISS every single one of you. I miss being honoured with the job of capturing those new moments for you. I miss being humbled by you asking me to come into your home to capture those intimate and fun family moments. And I just miss having little babies to snuggle.
Right now we are living in new and scary times, and right now us Photographers are not photographing anything (Unless you count the handful of times that we can wrangle our children for some photos). And I can tell you all that it’s not something we are choosing to do. But it’s something we have to do right now and it’s breaking our hearts.
If it were up to us we would be finding ways to safely capture your family moments right now, but the reality of the situation and current world is… There really isn’t a safe way to do this yet. So many of your moments aren’t being professionally captured and you are right… It sucks. But I know this is just temporary.
It truly warms my heart that you’re still contacting me and wanting your photos taken. And I promise as soon as I can get behind the lens I will for you! But it’s not all bad with this Coronavirus! There is some exciting stuff going on behind the scenes!
Firstly, the new studio is currently under construction and close to being done! I’ve been in the process of renovating the double car workshop in my back yard into a beautiful almost 500 sq ft studio space. It will feature 2 GORGEOUS HUGE sliding glass doors along the front, and 2 other huge windows. It’ll be bright and white with high ceilings letting in SO MUCH of that natural light you know I love to shoot in. I’ll be able to capture not only the studio images you love, but I will have it set up in a way that I can also capture some beautiful lifestyle moments.
I quite often hear from clients that they wish they could do a lifestyle session, but they don’t feel they have a home suited to it. Lifestyle is where my photography soul lies. And the thought of someone not being able to have what they want that I believe captures life in the best way with the most emotion? Well… I can’t have that! So hopefully this is a way that will help me get YOU the images you love.
Safety is going to be a concern once we are allowed to shoot and get back to things. I have already ordered medical gloves and masks for the studio, as well as an air purifier that will be running. Hand sanitizer will be readily available. In addition the studio schedule will be a lot more spread out. I want to make sure that I can properly sanitize between sessions and ensure that social distancing can continue to happen with no overlap of clients.
I’m continually researching and coming up with ideas to keep things as safe as possible. It’s an adjustment for everyone and those who have been clients of mine know that 100% safety is my #1 concern. These are hard times and as much as it kills me having to say no to sessions, even outdoor ones where I know social distancing can be maintained… Knowing that everyone is safe means the most to me. And I hope that you can all understand how much it sucks having to say no.
Lastly, I have some new things I am hoping to be able to offer to you – my clients. I’ve taken this time to learn some new skills and really evaluate where I want to steer the business to. I’m so excited to share what I can offer.. But you’ll have to wait a little bit for that!
These are new and strange times, but I know before I know it I’ll have a beautiful studio and babies and families are going to be back in front of my camera.
Thank you for being patient. Thank you for being safe. And thank you for sticking by not just myself… but the other amazing photographers in the area.
